The 部门 of Mathematical and Physical Sciences (MAPS) is the largest division on campus, consisting of the departments of Chemistry, 数学, Physics and Computer Science, and the Dual Degree Engineering Program. It offers many programs of study, research opportunities, professional training and service-learning activities, and provides a pathway for students towards successful scientific and health-profession careers (in medicine, 药店, 数学, computer science, 物理, 生物化学, 和化学). With over 50 教师 members and 700 students, MAPS students can always count on 教师 and peer mentoring and support. All departments in the 部门 are located in close proximity in the Norman C. Francis Science Building, providing the 教师, 工作人员, and students many opportunities for interdisciplinary collaborations and interactions.
The 部门 is committed to providing students with a high-quality education that prepares them for success in their chosen careers. The 部门's 教师 are world-renowned experts in their fields, and they are dedicated to teaching and mentoring students. The 部门 also offers a variety of research opportunities, which allow students to gain hands-on experience in their chosen field. 除了, the 部门 offers a variety of professional training and service-learning activities, which help students develop the skills they need to be successful in their careers.
Congratulations are in order! Xavier University of Louisiana captured the “Outstanding University” award from the Keep Louisiana Beautiful (KLB) organization. The entire Xavier community- students, 教师, and 工作人员- came together to clean up and beautify the campus and clinched one of the seven awards presented during KLB’s Love the Boot Week.

丽莎·麦克莱恩，m.s.A., B.A., director of 校园 Ministry at Xavier University of Louisiana, recently attended the 2024 Annual Association of 学生事务 at Catholic 大学s and Universities (ASACCU) Conference. Themed “Rooted in Mission. Growing with Purpose," the event was held at Villanova University in Pennsylvania. The conference emphasized integrating the Catholic mission into each aspect of higher education, ensuring a holistic approach to education and student affairs.

Xavier University of Louisiana offers many opportunities to its students to enrich their cultural experiences outside of the classroom. These opportunities allow students to demonstrate what they’ve learned in the world beyond Xavier. The “XULA in Costa Rica” program allows Xavierites to dive deep into the Spanish language while engaging in a medical professional shadowing component. This component involves Spanish medical studies and practices. The program was initiated by Professor Giti Farudi, of Xavier’s Department of Languages in 2014, 十年前. Farudi and 16 students traveled to Costa Rica on May 25th and spent three weeks with Costa Rican host families, returning on June 15th.
